If you have ever wanted to change the world to make it a better place, then this course is for you. We focus on training those that want to become teachers of permaculture both in the developing world, helping communities to acquire a healthy functioning eco system and a productive economy, or in less fortunate communities within the developed world.
This course is designed to enrich the student with the confidence to design and implement a complete permaculture system. It will include irrigation systems, greenhouse management, pruning grafting, propagation and tree nursery management.
We will explore the forest and its relationship to the health of our planet, as well as highlighting the multitude of economic opportunities that present themselves through intensive, holistic forest management.
Student training is geared towards becoming teachers of permaculture applicable to anywhere in the world, particularly to developing nations.
The students will receive a permaculture design certificate, as well as the skill set to become an inspiring teacher of permaculture.

Imagine being able to look at any given piece of land and being able to design a healthy, functioning eco system as well as productive edible landscape capable of feeding a community.
This course will immerse students in the complete running of an established permaculture farm through theoretical and hands-on learning. We will cover irrigation systems, greenhouse management pruning grafting, propagation and tree nursery management, alternative energy options, and sustainable building techniques.
Natural forest designs are studied and mimicked to reintroduce more vigorous planted forests. Forests are essential in recreating healthy ecosystems around the planet and offer a multitude of economic opportunities.
The skill set learnt in this course will be extremely sought after as we are globally becoming aware of the need to repair the damaged ecosystems that we are living in and need to have teachers that are able to teach this anywhere. Eco system restoration is the way of the future.

This course will be geared to those students that will want to go into the field in the developing world right away. The course will be split up between a month at Seven Ravens where we will have a crash course on all the major aspects of permaculture and then one month in the field in Kenya where we will conduct a complete permaculture installation at a primary school.
We will be working with the teachers and students of the school to convert their school property from what it is, to one that will produce an abundance of fruits and vegetables that will feed the students.
We will create economic opportunities for the school to grow higher valued crops that can be sold for cash so that they can buy a greater amount of basic foods such as maize meal, which is their food staple.
We will plant a forest around and within the school complex except for the sports pitch. This forest will produce fruit, medicine, building materials, firewood and fibre all within a couple of years.
Water harvesting will substantially boost the agricultural capacity of the land as well as providing the opportunity for fish farming. Livestock can help keep the grounds trimmed as well as supplying valuable manure.
Get inspired to see how much can happen in such a short period of time whilst always adhering to organic principals. Complexity provides greater opportunities and our imaginations are the limiting factors, so we are always challenged to come up with better ways of doing things.
