We worked about 100 kilometers north of Beijing in 2008. Over three separate visits within one year we were able to assess a project, install an expansive 5-hectare garden and indigenous tree nursery and harvest millions of organically grown seeds for further project installations.

Throughout my travels in China I became acutely aware of

the need to increase the biodiversity of tree species being grown, especially the need to plant indigenous species, which have been largely neglected in favour of a limited variety of North American species. I also realized the importance to teach the basic advantages of organic farming versus the heavy use of chemicals typically being used in the region.
