Michael worked closely with a farmer and his farm to establish a branch of the Practical Permaculture Institute in Mufindi, Tanzania. This included in-depth permaculture design and installation training and revising farm design and infrastructure to reduce waste and increase efficiencies. Additionally, Michael opened up a new area to farm, including installing a series of swales to capture and direct rainwater onto the property, which were then planted with local and heritage seed varieties. Finally, on the farm Michael developed a tree nursery and seed saving business, to increase farm profitability and visibility.
